About Me

“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”

My name is Naomi and I am a home (un)schooling WAHM of 2.  I’ll be honest. Kids were never on my plan. But it’s easy to lose track of the days when you are young and in love and travelling the world.

When I returned to the UK over a decade ago, I found there were limited opportunities for a young “alternative” mum. I was even told at one job interview that “we don’t usually employ women with children because we find them to be unreliable” – Seriously!

I took so many low paying, part-time jobs because that was all there was available. I was always tired from night-shifts, late- shifts, stupid shifts at stupid times, always for no more than the minimum wage. And it galled me that the society we live in places so little value on raising the next generation, the future caretakers of our planet. I figured there had to be an alternative to working for the man.

I started freelancing in 2009 as a way to make an ethical living which works in harmony with family life. Sometimes I feel like it was the best decision I ever made. Sometimes I feel like tearing my hair out!  This blog documents just some of our adventures.

I am a story-teller, book-seller and part-time faery. By working only with companies who share my values, I can earn a living without compromising on family life.  Please visit my website to find out more.
